35 Weeks and Max's Nursery!

I am officially 35 weeks along today.  Four more until we plan to meet the little guy!  Could be sooner!  Hopefully IS sooner, but we shall see.  I definitely want to make it to 37 weeks, then after that...he can most definitely welcome to come before my schedules c-section.  I really, really am getting so excited to meet him!  Two of my best friends, Lauren and Melissa just had their babies and holding those sweet babies definitely gave me baby fever something fierce.  It also reminded me just how small newborns are.  I can't remember Ly that small!  It's also been interesting to see Ly with little babies...she loves them and even helped Melissa change baby Colton's diaper.  :-) She's gonna be a great big sister!
As far as how I'm feeling now, I feel pretty good actually.  My back aches from time-to-time.  Depends on the day I suppose.  No swelling yet.  I'm starting to get out of breath just from walking!  The little guy is high up, and practically sitting on my lungs.  Or that's how it feels anyway.  Acid reflux is my enemy right now (thank God for Tums!).  Weight gain is about the same as it was with Ly.  Sleep is close to non-existent, what with flipping and flopping and getting up to pee every couple of hours. :-) I know right, I said I was feeling good but all that sure doesn't sound so great right?  Well, I know it could be way worse so I'm A-OK!
Now it's time for a little tour of Max's nursery!  We had very little space (the extra rooms in our house are not gigantic by any means), but I think we worked well with the space that we had!  I love his room!  And just like Ly's nursery, I find myself sitting in his room just taking it in.  In fact, that's where I'm typing from now. :-)
His crib... (car seat won't be there forever, just for now).
Changing table.  Still need a changing pad cover.  Using a tin bucket to put extra diapers in.
Rocker and such. :-) Will probably spend many-a-night right there....
And, just for kicks...Ly's bathroom was all decked out in Princess.  Well, as she and Max will be sharing a bathroom, we felt it necessary to neutralize the space a little. ;-) Here's Ly showing how she's big girl washing her hands after using the potty.  Time just passes by way too fast!  She is such a big girl now, fixing to be a big sister to Max.  I will definitely have to treasure the "baby moments" with Max, because I am well aware of our fleeting they are!
That's all!  Next doctor's appointment is the 23rd and then it's every week from there on out!  So close!

6 More Weeks!

Wow, 6 more weeks.  That really doesn't sound too far off.  Maybe because it isn't.  I am so excited and I can't wait to hold Baby Max.  As his arrival approaches, the fact that we will have a second child soon is becoming more and more real.  The nursery is pretty much ready (still need to add one or two more things), his clothes are folded and/or hanging up, diapers are piling up, stroller's put together, etc.  We're pretty much ready!
The difference between my pregnancies is pretty crazy!  Nothing abnormal went on while I was pregnant with Ly- besides the fact that she was breech.  But with Max!  Lordy, anemia and gestational diabetes!  Lovely!  I have to check my blood sugar levels 4 times daily and manage what I eat.  I have never been one to read labels, so this is most definitely a change.  I suppose it's a blessing because this is pretty much forcing me to be healthier, which we all know I wouldn't have done on my own.  With that said, you better believe that I after I give birth, I'm gonna get Rhett to go to Chili's (which is close to Sacred Heart) and get me a Chocolate Molten Cake to-go!  That will be my push/cut-me-open present.  Don't judge! ;-)

30 Weeks and a Nursery Peek

30 weeks down, 9 more to go! 9 and not 10 because we're planning a scheduled c-section a week before Max's due date.  My doctor said that if I wanted to, I could try to do a VBAC, but to be honest, the c-section I had with Ly was not bad at all.  I held Lyla for hours right after they stitched me up, so I can't complain about that.  The pain was so-so, worst part was the first time I had to stand up, so I can't complain about that.  Basically, you kind of go with what you know.  Whatever happens, I just want him to be safe and sound.  That is all that matters to me.  The end result.  Baby Max in my arms.
Last week I took my first glucose test and failed.  Yikes.  Which meant, I had to take a second glucose test, either a 2-3 hour test.  Luckily, mine was 2 hours, which I did this past Monday.  They drew blood when I got there, I drank the nasty drink, waited an hour, got more blood drawn, waited another hour, and then had MORE blood drawn!  Getting blood drawn from the same arm twice (I switched arms once) in a short time period is painful yo!  My arms were bruised.  Oh yes, not to mention I was informed that I am also anemic.  I'm taking Iron supplements along with my regular prenatal vitamins now.  Anywho, I find out in a couple days if I passed or failed the second test.  I pray, I pray I passed!
Otherwise, everything's going really well. We started Max's nursery and I love it so far!  Lyla "helped" paint her little brother's room. :-)
Here's a sneak peek of little Max's Western themed nursery.  I still want to get a cow print rug (oh yes), paint the blanket holder (which is now white) cow print, and either make or order a rope sign with Max's name.  Probably some other stuff too, but those are the biggies.
It's getting down to the wire!!!  I'm getting more and more excited as we get closer and closer to his due date.  I cannot wait to become a family of four!

Hello 3rd Trimester!

I'm 28 weeks along and officially in the 3rd trimester!  I'm feeling good and getting bigger and bigger!
Sleep is tough, I'm constantly turning from one side to the other and that's when I'm not getting up to pee.  But when I am actually asleep, I sleep pretty good!
I have some intense acid reflux.  Tums is my best friend and in a drawer right next to the bed.
Max is moving a ton!  I really think he's going to be a big boy.  And a Momma's boy at that. ;-)
Let's see...my first shower is this Saturday! I can't wait! We of course have a ton of girl stuff, so it's going to be different getting a lot of boy stuff!  Different, but a good kind of different.  I can't wait.  I've had such a great time looking at little boy clothes and such.  We have decided to go with a Western theme for Max's room.  Contemporary Western!  I saw a ton of stuff at good ole Hobby Lobby that I am obsessed with and have slowly, but surely been collecting decorative items.  I will have to post a before (Ly's playroom) and after (Max's nursery) photo for sure.
Anywho, that's about it I suppose.  As I'm typing this right now, the little guy is rolling on my bladder.  Yee haw!

25 Weeks Along and Baby Max in 3D

No belly pic this week. I usually take them on Sundays, as that's when I change weeks, but I felt like crap (like I looked like crap) last Sunday and I wasn't fixing to take a pic then! Ha!
We just had a doctor's appointment today and another US.  The doctor said they didn't see everything they wanted to see last US, so we got another one done to see everything that was missed. I'm not complaining! I love seeing our baby boy.  I also want to be extra sure everything's okay.  The US today was awesome because our US tech asked if we wanted a peek at Baby Max in 3D (of course we do!) and we got an amazing pic out of it!
He's a cutie! I can't wait to meet him! Here's another one!
And here's a couple in 2D...
With his little finger up to his mouth :-)
And we also confirmed that, yes, we are having a boy.  :-) The doctor said everything looks good...his heart, brain, weight, etc.  That's definitely good to hear.  He's measuring a little big, but then, he is a Summerford!  Rhett and Wesley both weighed on the upper end of 9 lbs. when they were born.  Yikes!  I'll be thankful for a c-section if that's the case!
Anywho, next visit with the doctor is beginning of June and will be time for my glucose test!  Oh yay!  Next time I'll definitely try to post a belly pic.

Half Way There!

Today I am 20 weeks along!  Half way!  Praise the Lord!  :)  I'm feeling real good now.  Sickness is pretty much gone, I do have the rare nauseous bouts from time to time, but they are few and far between.  I have felt our little guy move a lot lately!  Mostly at night when I'm laying in bed or when I'm sitting pretty still.  Feeling the baby move is definitely my favorite part of pregnancy.  As you can see from the pic above, I definitely have a baby bump and he's a growin'!  By the way, HE has a name now! :)

Max Hayden Summerford

Max is Rhett's grandfather's name (he passed away several years ago) and we just liked the name Hayden!  And that's it!  Baby Max!  We can't wait to meet him!

Movement

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today, I'm 18 weeks and 2 days and I'm feeling Baby M/H (still undecided with the name) move quite a bit! Yay! I kind of felt him a little, tiny bit starting Week 17...which consisted pretty much of flutters on a occasion. Starting yesterday, I've been feeling little pokes a lot more frequently and definitely stronger! It's an awesome feeling and definitely one of my favorite things about pregnancy!
This weekend we're celebrating his big sister's 4th birthday in New Orleans!!! We're going to the zoo and the aquarium and Cafe Du Monde and we're going to eat lots and lots of good food (this Mom is so excited to stuff her face)! I cannot wait!

IT'S A BOY!

I'm 17 weeks and 4 days along and today, we found out we are having a sweet baby boy!  We are so very excited!  Obviously, we love little girls so we would have been happy either, but I know that Rhett really wants a little boy to coach, fish, and hunt with.  What Dad doesn't?!  Anywho, we don't have a "for sure" name.  We have two names that we are deciding between so once we are for sure...we'll let y'all know!
I wanted to mention my dream, mostly to have it written down so that when I look back I'll remember all the details.  I thought this dream was just so crazy and it was definitely a sign!  Last night, before our US, I dreamt that I was in Disney World with Lyla, chasing her around.  I was running after her, which is pretty much what we do nowadays.  But anywho, mid dream, the child I was chasing was no longer Lyla, but a little boy.  The little boy was about 2 I would say and he had brown hair, not light brown hair and not dark like Ly and Rhett's, but somewhere in the middle.  I can't remember all the details of him, but that I remember.  I woke up in the middle of the night after the dream having to pee (normal) and I thought, "It's a boy".  Anywho, I know it could be a coincidence, but I just thought it was awesome and I wanted to write it here so I can remember it for the future.
Everything with Baby Boy is looking really good.  Good measurements, good heartbeat, etc. so we are definitely happy about that.  I posted a few US pics below....
His sweet little foot!
This pic he has his hand up to his mouth, perhaps sucking his thumb?
One of his little fingers/knuckles...
Little Baby Boy looking at us...
And again, looking at us....
I can't wait to meet our little guy!

16 Weeks and Feeling Good!

Wow.  I am so happy to finally be in the second trimester!  I'm feeling so much better lately!  I'm sick less and I have more energy it seems!  I actually cleaned the house this weekend.  I haven't felt like that in over 2 months! Tells you how desperately my house needed the cleaning.  Anywho, let's see...as you can see from the photo above...I have a definite baby bump. :)  Heck, I've been bumpin it since like 10 weeks.  My insane hunger has slacked off (that kind of coincided with my sickness).  I still have an increase in hunger, but it's no longer the I-have-to-constantly-be-shoving-food-in-my-mouth hunger.  Sleep is still okay.  I toss and turn all night long and I wake up every couple of hours to pee, but other than that....it's great!  Ha ha!  I truly believe that the difficult time you have sleeping while prego is good training for having a newborn.  It's very similar.  Up every couple of hours, etc.  Umm, I don't have heartburn yet, but I am getting bad acid indigestion.  Tums are my BF right now and stay in a drawer right next to my bed.
My next doctor's appointment is March 12th, and during that visit we schedule our ultrasound (which will be either later that week or the next week).  And that ladies and gentlemen, is when we will find out boy or girl!  I cannot wait.  As far as names go, I will say that has been a task this go round!  Honestly, we don't have any definite choices.  We may have a girl name.  We'll see.  Our child will not be nameless by the time it comes out!  I will make sure of that!  So when we find out boy or girl, don't expect me to announce a name as well.  That could take a long while yet! :-/  I'm not withholding it, we just honestly can't agree on anything.  :)

13 Weeks, Yo!

Hello Everyone! So I am 13 weeks and so so close to the 2nd trimester! Hallelujah! This 1st trimester has been quite hard! I'm sick everyday, and although Zofran keeps me from actually throwing up, that queasy feeling is still there. I know it will eventually go away, because it did with Lyla...but I just can't wait to feel like myself again. Anywho, my obscene hunger has subsided a little...just a little. I feel like I don't have to eat as many snacks throughout the day so that's good I suppose. As far as cravings, I don't know if I've had any as of yet besides the normal, "I need ice cream NOW". Nothing unusual though, at least not yet. Let's see, I'm still sleeping well. I do have to wake up probably 3 times a night to pee but hey, I go right back to bed after so I can't complain. On to my growing stomach, and yes, it is already growing. It's crazy, because when they say you get bigger faster during your 2nd pregnancy, they ain't kiddin'.  At 13 weeks this go around I look like I did at 20 or so weeks with Lyla. I will be very interested to see just how fast I get big. It's okay, I don't mind it...I'm embracing it. I love the bump. I really just can't wait to feel this little baby move! My friend Lauren (who is 23 weeks along and having a little girl named Autumn) just recently really started to feel her little girl and it makes me excited for that moment to come for me as well! I can remember that feeling with Lyla and it was my favorite! I loved not just knowing she was there, but also feeling her too! I know I have a few more weeks before I can feel this babe, but I am excited nonetheless. Tuesday is our 2nd doctor's appointment and I'm not real sure what's gonna go on...hopefully we'll see the baby again and hear/see the heartbeat! I can't wait for that! Rhett has been a sweet hubby and helping out extra around the house because this Momma has zero energy. Lyla is of course still stoked about the baby. She's always asking me, "When's the baby gonna come". Bless her heart, she just doesn't understand the concept of "a few more months". I really can't wait to see her as a big sister.
So y'all, don't laugh at me but I did go out buy one of those gender prediction tests!  Let me just say, I know that I know this is in no way accurate at all...mostly it's just for fun and to see if it's right when you actually find out what you're having.  Haha!  My friend Lauren did it and hers was right, so we will see if mine is in a few more weeks. :)

Baby # 2 is on the way!

Guess what?!  We're pregnant again!  Whoo hoo!  We're so so excited and Lyla is very excited as well!  Currently, I am about 10 weeks pregnant and due 8/18/13.  I wanted to keep up a blog for this baby like a did with Lyla, it's only fair after all!  We'll see how well I can keep it up... So I figure I might as well start at the beginning of our journey to a family of 4.
Getting pregnant with Baby # 2 hasn't been as easy as it was getting pregnant with little Lyla.  Rhett and I started trying back when Ly turned three (3/12) and we did get pregnant pretty quick!  Unfortunately, I miscarried at 6 weeks.  I kind of had a feeling something wasn't right.  I wasn't feeling any symptoms....nothing.  And then, the cramps and bleeding came.  I can remember being in the doctor's office, looking at the ultrasound, having the doctor say "I'm so sorry", and just crying.  Needless to say, we were sad.  After the miscarriage, we had to wait two more cycles (which is basically two months!) before trying again.
It took a few months, but we found out early December we were pregnant again!  Anyone who's had a miscarriage knows that when you get pregnant again, you are very on edge.  It's horrible to say, but I just kept waiting for something to go wrong.  This may be TMI, but I was having some unsettling discharge for a few days and I just kept thinking "it's going to turn red".  I remember being in the bathroom at work (not even kidding) and praying.  Praying to God for everything to be okay with this baby.  A couple days later, the discharge stopped.  At that moment, I decided to stop worrying (try at least) and put it in God's hands.
Everything has felt "right" with this pregnancy and I mean that as in I've been feeling all the symptoms I should be feeling.  I started puking at 5 weeks!   And then the hunger started!  Holy moley!  I had forgotten the insane hunger that goes along with pregnancy!  I have to bring a lunchbox full of snacks to work every day to make it!  And Lordy, my boobs feel like they've already doubled in size!  I'm really scared at how big they could possibly get.  Speaking of getting big so soon....my belly is already protruding enough to where people (sometimes strangers) are noticing and saying "Congratulations"!  Ha!  It was getting really hard to hide the bump, so what the hey!  I'm embracing my every-growing belly!
We had our first prenatal appointment Tuesday (1/15/13).  Again, scary, but I tried not to worry.  I was reassured when I pottied in the cup and the nurse stuck the pregnancy tester in it and said, "Wow!  It's already positive".  Good sign friends.  We had an ultrasound and saw our little baby's heartbeat and we even saw our little baby wiggle around!  All I felt in that moment was complete and utter happiness and an immense amount of relief.  Our doctor said everything looked great.  Due date is 8/18/13, but since I have decided to have a c-section again, they will schedule it a week beforehand....so basically we'll meet Baby # 2 a week before 8/18/13!  Next doctor's appointment is 2/12/13 and I can't wait!

Explaining to Lyla that she will be a big sister and that we'll have a little baby soon has been so fun.  She kisses my stomach and constantly asks "when will the baby be here".  She doesn't quite understand the concept of "oh, just a few more months".  She even asked me if she can hold the baby when it comes.  Melt. My. Heart.
Anywho, please pray for us and Baby # 2!  And check back often because I will try to update frequently!  Maybe next time I'll put a belly pic up!
